Mechanism of Action of Diclofenac Topical
Its anti-inflammatory/antipyretic/analgesic action is due to the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis by inhibition of cyclooxygenase (((COX))).This also decreases prostaglandins in the epithelium of the stomach, making it more sensitive to corrosion by gastric acid
Diclofenac may also inhibit the lipooxygenase pathways (((thus reducing formation of the leukotrienes))) and phospholipase A2.

Distribution- Well distributed in the body as plasma protein bound (((99%))) form.
Metabolism -It is metabolized in the liver by conjugation or hydroxylation which leads to phenolic and glucoronide conjugates.
