About Carisoprodol
Centrally-acting skeletal muscle relaxant, antipyretic and weak antiadrenergic, Muscle relaxant.
Mechanism of Action of Carisoprodol
This centrally acting drug blocks pain sensations between the nerves and the brain. It produces muscle relaxation by blocking interneuronal activity and depressing transmission of polysynaptic neurons in the descending reticular formation and spinal cord. This decreases muscular spasms. It also has antipyretic and weak antiadrenergic activity.

Absorption- Rapidly absorbed after oral administration
Distribution- Widely distributed into CNS. 60% bound to the plasma proteins
Metabolism- It is metabolized in the liver to its metabolites by dealkylation and hydroxylation. Meprobamate is its active metabolite
Excretion- It is excreted through urine

Effects of Missed Dosage of Carisoprodol
Take the missed dose as soon as noticed and if it is the time for next dose then skip the missed dose. Continue the regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Give symptomatic and supportive treatment. Induce emesis or gastric lavage. Monitor urine output and vital signs regularly
