Mechanism of Action of Becaplermin
Becaplermin is recombinant human platelet-derived growth factors that mimic a protein that occurs naturally in the body. The growth factor stimulates the migration of cells to the ulcer site, encouraging the patient`s body to grow new tissue that heals these open wounds. It also promotes the chemotactic recruitment and proliferation of cells involved in wound repair and enhancing the formation of granulation tissue.
