Mechanism of Action of Apraclonidine
Apraclonidine is a derivative of Clonidine.It is a relatively selective alpha adrenergic agonist.When instilled into the eye, Apraclonidine reduces intraocular pressure by the reduction of aqueous formation.

1.To control intraoccular pressure
Interactions for Apraclonidine
Topical Beta blocker or Pilocarpine: May produce additive lowering of intraocular pressure.
Typical Dosage for Apraclonidine
Apraclonidine 0.5% and 1% ophthalmic solutions are available,
1.Control of post operative elevation of intraocular pressure after anterir segment laser surgery: Apply 1 drop 1 hour before laser surgery and 1 drop immediately after completion of procedure.
2.Short term treatment of chronic glaucoma: 1 drop 3 times daily usually used for maximum of 1 month.
