Mechanism of Action of Nitrofurazone
Nitrofurazone is a broad spectrum antiseptic. It acts by inhibiting the bacterial enzymes which are involved in the carbohydrate metabolism (glucose and pyruvate) in the microbes.

Typical Dosage for Nitrofurazone
Adult:
Ointment, cream, soluble dressing and topical solution: 0.2 %
Burn (2nd and 3rd degree burns) or skin infection: Apply directly on the skin and cover it with gauze once daily or repeat if necessary depending upon the severity of burn and the covering technique used
Dressing`s solutions are prepared by diluting Nitrofurazone solution with equal quantity of distilled water. Diluted solutions are used for only 1 day and cloudy diluted solution should be discarded. If undiluted solution is cloudy then heat the solutions to 50 - 60 degree C.
