A benzylamine antifungal, Squalene epoxidase enzyme inhibitor, Systemic antifungal.
Mechanism of Action of Butenafine
Butenafine is an allylamine with broad spectrum of antifungal activity. It interfere the conversion of Squalene to Ergosterol by inhibiting the enzyme Squalene epoxidase.This results in accumulation of Squalene in the fungal cells and leads to membrane distortion and death of the Fungus

Typical Dosage for Butenafine
Topical: Butenafine 1% cream is used. Clean and dry the affected and surrounding area. Apply the medicament as thin film with gentle massage over the area and it may cover with cotton gauze if needed. Apply once or twice daily for 1 -4 weeks depending on the severity of infection. Wash hands before and after the application of medicaments.
Tinea corporis, Tinea cruris, Tinea versicolor: Apply once daily for 2 weeks,
Tinea pedis inter digitalis: Apply once daily for 4 weeks.

Effects of Missed Dosage of Butenafine
Apply the missed dose as soon as noticed and if it is the time for next dose then skip the missed dose. Continue the regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
