Tazorotene

About Tazorotene
A synthetic third generation retinoid, Anti psoriatic, anti-acne.
Mechanism of Action of Tazorotene
Tazarotene is a third generation retinoid. Retinoic acid activates Retinoic acid receptors (RARs) and retinoic acid X receptors (RXRs) and produce effects on gene expression. Retinoid binds to transcription factors (nuclear receptors) and form complex. This complex binds to promoter regions of target genes and regulates their expressions. The gene product formed produce effective pharmacological actions.
Tazarotene is a prodrug and after topical application it is de-esterified in the skin to Tazarotenoic acid (active metabolite) which can affect cell proliferation and differentiation by modulating gene expression in acne and psoriasis
