Imidazoline derivative,Alpha-2 adrenergic agonist, Topical nasal decongestant.
Mechanism of Action of Xylometazoline
It is a nasal decongestant with selective alpha-2 agonistic action. It produces local vasoconstriction, reduces blood flow, and causes shrinkage of mucosa which provides relief of nasal congestion.

Indications for Xylometazoline
1. Nasal congestion
Interactions for Xylometazoline
Tricyclic antidepressants: Xylometazoline may potentiate the pressor effects of tricyclic antidepressants.
Typical Dosage for Xylometazoline
Adults and children over 12 years: Apply 2 to 3 drops or sprays of 0.1% solution in each nostril every 8 to 10 hours. Should not use; more than 3 times in 24 hours.
Children: Apply 2 to 3 drops of 0.05% solution in each nostril every 8 to 10 hours. Should not use; more than 3 times in 24 hours
Infants: Apply 1 drop of 0.05% solution in each nostril every 8 to 10 hours as required; under medical supervision

Store at room temperature at a range of 15 to 300C. Protect from direct heat and light. Avoid freezing. Keep out of reach of children.
Effects of Missed Dosage of Xylometazoline
Take the missed dose as soon as noticed and if it is the time for next dose then skip the missed dose. Continue the regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
