Polycarbophil is the polyacrylic acid cross linked with divinyl glycol.It is used in diarrhea disorders. It is a pharmacologically inert substance that has the capacity to bind free faecal water. Therefore it is used in diarrhoeal disorders to decrease the fluidity of stools.It produces its action mainly in intestine or colon.It is also used as a bulk forming laxative.
