About Acebrophylline
Bronchodilator, Mucoregulator, Antiinflamatory drug,salt of theophylline-7- acetic acid with ambroxol.
Mechanism of Action of Acebrophylline
Theophylline-7-acetate ha bronchodilator effect due to inhibition of the intracellular phosphodiesterases, followed by increase in cyclic AMP level which promote the relaxation of bronchial muscles. Ambroxol act as a mucolytic agent by increases the mucociliary clearance by stimulating cilia motility. Acebrophylline inhibit the synthesis and release of leukotrienes and tumoir necrosis factor and reduces inflammation.

The concomitant use of acebrophylline and frusimide can potentiate dieresis
Concomitant use of acebrophylline with reserpine can cause tachycardia
Phenytoin and barbiturates decreases the plasma concentration of acebrophylline
Typical Dosage for Acebrophylline
Adult : 100 mg twice daily
Children up to 2 years, it`s half a teaspoon, twice daily.
Age 2 to 5 is half a teaspoon, three times a day
Children age over 5, its a teaspoon 2 to 3 times a day.
