Mechanism of Action of Malathion
Malathion works by blocking the action of an enzyme in the parasite called cholinesterase. This enzyme is essential for the growth and survival of the parasite. By inactivating it, malathion disrupts vital metabolic processes in the parasites and ultimately leads to their death.

Typical Dosage for Malathion
Apply sufficient amount of lotion on dry hair to thoroughly wet the hair and scalp. Pay particular attention to back of the head and neck. Wash hands after application. Allow the hair to dry naturally without the use of electric heat source; and do not cover the hair. Remove by washing with non-medicated shampoo after 8-12 hr. Use a fine-toothed (nit) comb to remove dead lice and eggs. Second application may be repeated after 7-9 days if needed.
