Mechanism of Action of Prasugrel
Prasugrel is an thienopyridine which inhibits ADP receptors by irreversibly acting on the P2Y12 receptor on platelets. The active metabolite of prasugrel prevents binding of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) to its platelet receptor, impairing the ADP-mediated activation of the glycoprotein GPIIb/IIIa complex.

Prasugrel is a prodrug and is rapidly metabolized to a pharmacologically active metabolite and inactive metabolites.

3.Dermatologic: Rash
4.Endocrine and metabolic: Hypercholesterolemia/hyperlipidemia
5.Gastrointestinal: Nausea, diarrhea, gastrointestinal hemorrhage
6.Hematologic: Leukopenia , anemia
7.Neuromuscular and skeletal: Back pain
8.Respiratory: Epistaxis, dyspnea , cough
