About CefpodoximeThird Generation Cephalosporin antibiotic, Oral antibiotic.Mechanism of Action of CefpodoximeCefpodoxime is a 3rd generation cephalosporin which exerts its bactericidal action mainly against gram positive organisms by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cefpodoxime inhibits transpeptidase & thus prevents cross linking of bacterial cell wall. Transpeptidase & associated proteins constitute various types of specific binding proteins which have affinity for cephalosporins like Cefpodoxime.
It is active against enterobacteriaceae, streptococci ,staphylococci aureus, & H. influenzae.

Interactions for CefpodoximeAntacids and H2 blockers : Plasma concentration of cefpodoxime proxetil may be decreased by 30%.
Probenecid : Plasma levels of cefpodoxime increased when used concomitantly.
Typical Dosage for CefpodoximeAdults: 0. 2gm twice daily.
Maximum adult dose: Up to 0.8gm/day
Children: 5mg/kg/day
Maximum child dose: 200mg/day
Pneumonia:
Adults: 0. 2gm twice daily for two weeks
Bronchitis:
Adults: 0. 2gm twice daily for 10 days
Gonorrhea:
0.2 gm single dose followed by 0.1gm doxycycline orally twice daily for a week
Pharyngitis & Tonsillitis
Adults: 0.1gm orally twice daily for 10 days

About CloxacillinIt is a Penicillinase resistant Penicillin, Penicillin derived antibiotic.Mechanism of Action of CloxacillinCloxacillin is a bactericidal drug. It binds to the Penicillin binding protein in the cell wall of bacteria and inhibits the enzyme transpeptidase which is responsible for the transpeptidation reaction in peptidoglycan synthesis. It also activates the endogenous enzyme which degrades the peptidoglycan.These results in inhibition of protein synthesis and there by cell wall synthesis. In addition to this it is not degraded by penicillinase enzyme and therefore it can be useful against penicillinase producing bacteria also.Pharmacokinets of CloxacillinAbsorption .It is readily absorbed after oral administration.
