It is a nasal decongestant with selective alpha-2 agonistic action. It produces local vasoconstriction, reduces blood flow, and causes shrinkage of mucosa which provides relief of nasal congestion

Typical Dosage for Oxymetazoline
Nasal congestion:
Adults and children over 6 years: Apply 2 to 3 drops or sprays of 0.05% solution in each nostril every 10 to 12 hours. Should not use; more than 3 to 5 days.
Children (below 6 years): Apply 1 to 3 drops of 0.025% solution in each nostril every 6 to 12 hours. Should not use; more than 3 to 5 days.
Infants: Apply 1 to 2 drops of 0.01% solution in each nostril every 8 to 12 hours under medical supervision. Should not use; more than 3 to 5 days.
