Cefpodoxime

About Cefpodoxime
Third Generation Cephalosporin antibiotic, Oral antibiotic.
Mechanism of Action of Cefpodoxime
Cefpodoxime is a 3rd generation cephalosporin which exerts its bactericidal action mainly against gram positive organisms by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cefpodoxime inhibits transpeptidase & thus prevents cross linking of bacterial cell wall. Transpeptidase & associated proteins constitute various types of specific binding proteins which have affinity for cephalosporins like Cefpodoxime.
It is active against enterobacteriaceae, streptococci ,staphylococci aureus, & H. influenzae.
Pharmacokinets of Cefpodoxime
Absorption: Orally well absorbed &food increases absorption rate. Distribution: widely distributed, Metabolism: Its ester prodrug Cefpodoxime proxetil is deesterified in to its active metabolite Cefpodoxime in the body, Excretion: Excreted mainly through urine

Dicloxacillin

About Dicloxacillin
A semisynthetic narrow spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic ofpenicillin class, Penicillinase resistant Antibiotic.
Mechanism of Action of Dicloxacillin
Like other ?-lactam antibiotics, dicloxacillin acts by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. It inhibits cross-linkage between the linear peptidoglycan polymer chains that make up a major component of the cell wall of Gram-positive bacteria.
Pharmacokinets of Dicloxacillin
Absorption :Absorption after oral administration is rapid but incomplete, food delays absorption
Distribution: widespread, highest in kidneys & liver, CSF low
Protein Binding: 96%
Metabolism: hepatic CYP3A4
Excretion: renal, feces
