Interactions for Cefotaxime + Sulbactam SodiumN/ATypical Dosage for Cefotaxime + Sulbactam SodiumAdults: 1 tablet to be taken 2 - 4 times daily.
Each tablet contains 1gm Cefotaxime + 500mg Sulbactum or 2gm Cefotaxime + 1gm Sulbactum .
Children: 1 tablet to be taken 3 times daily.
Each tablet contains 100mg Cefotaxime + 50mg Sulbactum / kg / day to 150mg Cefotaxime + 75mg Sulbactum / kg / day
Maximum adult dose: Cefotaxime 12gm / day + Sulbactum 4gm /day
In Urinogenital tract infections & Respiratory tract infections:
1gm Cefotaxime+ 500mg Sulbactum to 2gm Cefotaxime+1gm Sulbactum 2 - 3 times daily ;In severe cases take 3 - 4 times daily.

About CefotaximeThird Generation cephalosporin Parenteral antibiotic.Mechanism of Action of CefotaximeCefotaxime is a 3rd generation cephalosporin which exerts its bactericidal action against both gram positive & aerobic gram negative organisms by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cefotaxime inhibits transpeptidase & thus prevents cross linking of bacterial cell wall. Transpeptidase & associated proteins constitute various types of specific binding proteins which have affinity for cephalosporins like CefotaximePharmacokinets of CefotaximeAbsorption: Orally not well absorbed & should be given parenterally, Distribution: widely distributed, & good CSF penetration, Metabolism: A portion of it is deacetylated in the body in to an active metabolite desacetylcefotaxime, Excretion: Excreted mainly through urine & small amount is seen in breast milk.

Interactions for CefotaximeSynergy with aminoglycosides.Typical Dosage for CefotaximeAdults: 1g to 2gm I.M. or I.V. two times daily to four times daily.
Children: 50 to 100 mg/kg/day I.M or I.V. two times daily to four times daily.
Neonates: 50mg/kg I.V. two times daily in first week & three times daily in next three weeks
Maximum adult dose: Up to 12gm/day
Maximum child dose: 200mg/kg/day three times daily or four times daily
Gonorrhea: 1gm, once daily, I.M.

About Sulbactam SodiumAn irreversible ?-lactamase inhibitor, To increase the antibacterial activity of penicillins and cephalosporins against ?-lactamase?producing organisms.Mechanism of Action of Sulbactam SodiumSulbactam has no significant antimicrobial activity, despite sharing the ?-lactam ring that is characteristic of beta-lactam antibiotics. This similarity in chemical structure helps the Sulbactam to act as a competitive inhibitor of beta-lactamase enzyme secreted by certain bacteria that are resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics. This inhibition restores the antibacterial activity of beta-lactam antibiotics against ?-lactamase-secreting resistant bacteria.It is usually given in combination with Amoxycillin.
It is used to increase the antibacterial spectrum of penicillin and cephalosporin against penicillinase-producing and beta-lactamase-producing organisms such as Staphylococcus aureus, H. flu, Moraxella catarrhalis that are resistant to Ampicillin alone.
