Isoxizolidone,d-alanine analogue, Anti TB antibiotic.
Mechanism of Action of Cycloserine
Cycloserine may be bactericidal or bacteriostatic depending on the concentration of the drug at the site of infection and the susceptibility of the organism towards the drug. Cycloserine is a D alanine analogue which is essential for peptidoglycan synthesis .It compete with D - alanine for two enzymes L- alanine racemase and D- alanyl alanine synthetase. These enzymes are required for incorporation of D- alanine in to peptidoglycan. These result in inhibition of cell wall formation
