An acridine derivative, Antimalarial, antiprotozoal, antirheumatic, intrapleural sclerosing agent.
Mechanism of Action of Mepacrine
It is an erythrocytic schizonticide.The exact mechanism of action of Mepacrine is not known. It binds to DNA by intercalating the adjacent base pairs and inhibits transcription and translation. In addition to this it inhibits succinate oxidation and electron transport.
