Dilazep Pharmacology

About Dilazep
A tertiary amine, adenosine reuptake inhibitor,Antiplatelet agents ,Coronary vasodilator.
Mechanism of Action of Dilazep
The drug exerts it`s antithrombotic action by interfering with platelet aggregation. It causes dose dependent decrease in platelet aggregation and thromboxane B2 formation when stimulated by ADP, collagen, and epinephrine. It decreases thrombin induced release of arachidonic acid from platelet membrane and conversion of Arachidonic acid to cycloxygenase-metabolite and thromboxane A2.
It protects ischaemic myocardium via an ATP sparing action. It possesses negative inotropic effect which causes slowing of the rate of depletion of creatinine phosphate and ATP during ischaemia. This protects the heart against the ischaemic induced decline in the ATP generating and oxygen utilizing capacities of mitochondria.
