Mechanism of Action of Tinzaparin
Tinzaparin is an anticoagulant. It is a low molecular weight heparin that binds to and accelerate the activity of antithrombin III.This produces inactivation of factor Xa and thrombin and prevents the formation of blood clots.Binding of Tinzaparin with Heparin cofactor II also inhibits thrombin activity and produces anticoagulant effect.

1.To prevent deep venous thrombosis

Typical Dosage for Tinzaparin
Sub cutaneous injection:
Adult:Prophylaxis of deep vein thrombosis, general surgery: 3500units 2 hours before surgery and then 3500 units every 24 hours for 7 - 10 days.
Deep vein thrombosis and Pulmonary embolism:175 units/kg once aily for at least 6 days.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.Keep out of the reach of children. Keep the medicine from freezing. Do not refrigerate.
Effects of Missed Dosage of Tinzaparin
Take the missed dose as soon as noticed and if it is the time for next dose then skip the missed dose.Continue the regular schedule.Do not double the dose.
Effects of Overdose of Tinzaparin
Give supportive measures and symptomatic treatment.Bleeding can be stopped by discontinuing the drug and by applying pressure at the site.Protmine sulfate can also be administered.
