Enzyme, aqueous solution of haemocoagulase, Systemic haemocoagulant.
Mechanism of Action of Botropase
Botropase is an aqueous solution of haemocoagulase which containing 0.9% of sodium chloride and is isolated from venom of Bothrops atorox or Bothrops jararaca. It contains two different types of enzymes acting on blood coagulation; of which one has thrombin like action and the other one has thromboplastin like effect. Thus it promotes and accelerates physiological process of haemostasis. It shortens the bleeding time and coagulation time.
