Mechanism of Action of Adrenaline (Inhalers)
Adrenaline is an alpha and beta adrenergic agonist which excerts it`s therapeutic actions through predominant beta receptor agonistic action. It is a positive inotropic and chronotropic drug and it increases stroke volume, cardiac output and improves coronary blood flow. It increases systolic and mean blood pressure. It increases blood flow to skeletal muscles. It is a powerful bronchial smooth muscle relaxant and antagonizes spasm of bronchial muscle. It acts through alpha receptors in skin, mucous membrane, and viscera and causes vasoconstriction.

Absorption: Well absorbed after intranasal administration. Distribution: Widely distributed through out the body. Metabolism: Metabolized in to inactive metabolites in sympathetic nerve endings, liver and other tissues. Excretion: Excreted through urine as metabolites and conjugates.

Typical Dosage for Adrenaline (Inhalers)
Inhaler:
Nebulizer inhaler: 1% (1:100), 1.25%, 2.25%.
Aerosol inhaler: 160mcg, 200mcg, 250mcg/metered spray.
Administration through metered inhaler: One inhalation via metered aerosol. Repeat once after one minute if required. Should not be repeating the subsequent doses for at least 3 hours.
Administration through hand bulb Nebulizer: One or two deep inhalation through hand bulb Nebulizer of a 1% solution. Repeat if required at 1 to 2 minute interval.
Administration by positive pressure breathing: 0.03ml (0.3mg) of a 1% solution via intermittent positive pressure breathing.
