1.Analgesia during Induction of anaesthesia
2.Continuation of analgesia into immediate post operative period
Interactions for Remifentanil
Increased CNS depression with inhaled and IV anaesthetics, benzodiazepines
Increased hypotension and bradycardia with cardiac depressants (e.g. ?-blockers, calcium channel blockers)
Increased CNS depressant with sodium oxybate
Typical Dosage for Remifentanil
Induction of anaesthesia: Infuse at 0.5-1 mcg/kg/min. If the patient is to be intubated <8 mins after the start of the infusion, an additional initial IV bolus of 1 mcg/kg may be given
Continuation of analgesia into immediate post operative period: 100-200 nanograms/kg/min, given via IV infusion
